What we help with

If it plugs in and nobody can figure it out, we can help.

No jargon, no sighing, no making you feel silly for asking. We explain what we are doing while we do it, and we are glad to explain it twice.

Wi-Fi that reaches the whole house

The back bedroom with no signal, the guest network nobody can remember, the router hidden in a closet doing its best. Usually it is placement, not your internet plan.

TVs, streaming and “where did my channel go”

Streaming is genuinely confusing and there are too many apps. We will get it working and leave you with something you can operate without a manual.

Computers that have gotten slow or strange

Cleanups, updates, printers that stopped printing, files you cannot find, and backups so a bad day does not become a lost decade.

Phones and tablets, without the eye-rolling

New phone and everything is in the wrong place. We move it all across, sort the photos out, and make it readable again.

Sitting down and learning it properly

Ask us to slow down and we will. Ask us to write the steps out and we will. Learning it properly once beats calling somebody every month.

Smart home gear that actually behaves

Doorbells, cameras, speakers, thermostats and lights, set up so they notify the right phone and you can find them when you need them.

The printer. Yes, that printer.

Nobody has a good relationship with their wireless printer. We will get it connected, printing and scanning, and explain why it keeps wandering off.

Scams, pop-ups and “is this email real?”

If something on the screen is trying to scare you into calling a number, that is the scam. We will clean it up and show you how to recognize it.

Owasso, specifically

What tech help looks like around here.

This is commuter country, and the houses show it: bigger lots, more square footage, and a router sitting in an office at one end of the house trying to cover the whole thing. Wi-Fi coverage is far and away the most common call we get in this part of Green Country. North of Claremore and out toward Nowata and Bartlesville, distances get long enough that we do a lot of remote sessions with the same people we would happily drive to, simply because remote gets them fixed the same day.

We love making it easy

Patient, unhurried help, especially for the 55+ crowd.

Bartlesville, Claremore and Owasso all have real retirement communities, and a lot of them have grandkids who moved away. Making video calls work reliably, on a device that is actually easy to pick up and use, is one of the most satisfying things we do all week.

Our whole approach comes down to one idea: you should leave the visit more confident than when we arrived. Anybody can fix a thing and go. We would rather show you what we did and why, in words that mean something, so that next time you have a shot at it yourself. If you would rather we just handle it, that is fine too. But the offer is always open, and plenty of people take us up on it.

Where we go from Owasso

Buying this for a parent?

A lot of our calls come from a grown child, not the person who needs the help.

Somebody two states away is worried that Mom cannot get the TV back to normal, or that Dad keeps getting locked out of his email, and there is nobody nearby to just go and sit with them. You can arrange it for them. Book the session or gift a membership, we handle it directly with them at a time that suits, and you do not have to talk anybody through anything over the phone at nine at night.

Questions

Straight answers about Owasso.

Is Owasso open for in-person visits yet?

Yes. A Local Nerd on this side of Tulsa makes house calls now, and you see the price for your address before you book. Remote help still works today too, and for a lot of problems it is the same-day answer.

I am up near the Kansas line. Am I in range?

The towns up to the state line are in range today, and the ring widens as our roster here takes on longer drives. Across the line in Kansas, in Coffeyville, Caney and Independence, you are served remotely for now, which handles most computer, phone and account problems the same day. Our service area is a distance, not a state line. Type your ZIP when you book and you will get a straight answer for your address.

How much does tech help cost in Owasso?

Remote help is $39 for a 30-minute session. In-person visits are $110 an hour within 25 miles of Owasso and $130 in the 25 to 50 mile band, because the higher rate is how we pay for the drive. Farther-out addresses are served remotely today, or by a drive from a neighboring Local Nerd. Type your ZIP when you book and you will get a real answer for your address. Only a $39 deposit is due online when you book an in-person visit; the rest is charged after your Nerd finishes and you sign off on the work. There is also a Nerd on Call membership at $14.99 a month that includes two remote sessions and an in-person visit a year plus 20% off anything extra. You always approve the price before we start.

Do you help older adults in Owasso with technology?

Absolutely, and we would rather you ask than struggle. No rushing, no talking down, no assuming you already know what a setting is. Tell us you would like to understand it rather than just have it fixed and we will teach you instead.

Are you a repair shop?

No, and it matters. We are a setup-and-support service: we get things working, connected and understood. We do not do board-level repair or data recovery on failed drives, and if that is what you need we will tell you plainly instead of charging you to find out.

Become a Local Nerd

We open a market when somebody local is ready to run it.

That is the honest bottleneck. Not demand, not geography: a Local Nerd who knows the area, likes people, and is good at explaining things. Set your own availability, keep the majority of every booking, and help your neighbors with the stuff they cannot get their heads around. See what the role involves or apply here.
