Remote help works in Durant today. In-person visits are coming.

A 30-minute remote session is $39 and handles most computer, phone, email, password and account problems without anybody driving anywhere. In-person visits open here as soon as we have a Local Nerd on the ground, and that is a real bottleneck rather than a marketing date. If that could be you, we would like to hear from you.

What we help with

If it plugs in and nobody can figure it out, we can help.

No jargon, no sighing, no making you feel silly for asking. We explain what we are doing while we do it, and we are glad to explain it twice.

Wi-Fi that reaches the whole house

Dead spots, a router in the wrong place, a network nobody can get onto. We fix the coverage instead of telling you to buy faster internet.

TVs, streaming and “where did my channel go”

Getting a new TV going, tidying up the apps, and making the remote situation sane again. Then we show you the three buttons you actually need.

Computers that have gotten slow or strange

Slow, cluttered, full of things you did not install. We will clean it up, get it current, and set up a backup that runs without you thinking about it.

Sitting down and learning it properly

Not a rushed fix and out the door. If you want to understand it so you can do it yourself next time, that is our favorite kind of visit.

Phones and tablets, without the eye-rolling

New phone and everything is in the wrong place. We move it all across, sort the photos out, and make it readable again.

Smart home gear that actually behaves

Cameras you can actually pull up, a doorbell that rings the right phone, a thermostat that stops fighting you. Set up properly and explained once.

The printer. Yes, that printer.

Wireless printers are genuinely badly designed and it is not your fault. We will get it printing and scanning and leave it that way.

Scams, pop-ups and “is this email real?”

Pop-ups, warnings that are not real, emails that want you to click. We will clear it out and teach you the tells so the next one does not land.

Durant, specifically

What tech help looks like around here.

Lake Texoma changes what this market needs. There are a lot of second homes and lake places here, and a house that sits empty half the month has its own set of problems: internet that has to be reliable without anybody there to reboot it, cameras that have to actually work when you check them from three hours away, and a TV setup that guests can figure out. In town, Durant is growing fast and a lot of the work is simply getting new houses properly set up.

We love making it easy

Patient, unhurried help, especially for the 55+ crowd.

Texoma has a big retirement population on both sides of the river, and a lot of them are the family tech support for everyone else. If that is you, we are happy to be the person you call instead.

What we believe, in one sentence: being confused by this stuff is not a personal failing. It changes every couple of years, nobody sends a memo, and the instructions assume you already know. We are happy to be the ones who explain it properly, at whatever pace suits you, as many times as it takes. Writing it down on paper so you have it later is not a strange request. We do it most weeks.

Buying this for a parent?

A lot of our calls come from a grown child, not the person who needs the help.

Somebody two states away is worried that Mom cannot get the TV back to normal, or that Dad keeps getting locked out of his email, and there is nobody nearby to just go and sit with them. You can arrange it for them. Book the session or gift a membership, we handle it directly with them at a time that suits, and you do not have to talk anybody through anything over the phone at nine at night.

Questions

Straight answers about Durant.

Is Durant open for in-person visits yet?

Not yet. Remote help works in Durant today. In-person visits open when we have a Local Nerd here, and the waitlist is how you find out first.

I am on the Texas side near Denison or Sherman. Does that count?

Grayson County is inside the 75 miles we measure from Durant, so yes for much of it. The service area is a distance rather than a state, which is why we can cross the Red River at all. Enter your ZIP when you book for the exact answer at your address.

How much does tech help cost in Durant?

Remote help is $39 for a 30-minute session. In-person visits start at $110 an hour within 25 miles of Durant, $130 in the 25 to 50 mile band and $145 from 50 to 75 miles, because the higher rate is how we pay for the drive. There is also a Nerd on Call membership at $19.99 a month that includes two remote sessions and an in-person visit a year plus 20% off anything extra. You always approve the price before we start.

Do you help older adults in Durant with technology?

Yes. A large share of our work is unhurried one-on-one help for older adults, and we are good at it because we actually enjoy it. We go at your pace, we explain as we go, and we will gladly write the steps down for you to keep.

Are you a repair shop?

We are not. Think of us as setup and support rather than repair: connecting, configuring, cleaning up and teaching. Hardware failures and data recovery are somebody else's job, and we will tell you that up front rather than after an hour on the clock.

Become a Local Nerd

We open a market when somebody local is ready to run it.
