Text a nerd is a courtesy

  • Text only, for short, simple questions. It is not a phone help line, and not a replacement for a session.
  • We usually reply within one business day, often sooner. That is a goal, not a guarantee, and not for urgent or emergency help.
  • Anything that needs real troubleshooting, a screen-share, or hands-on time is a remote or in-person visit. Members get 20% off those.
  • Fair use means reasonable personal use for your own household devices. We may suggest booking a visit, and may pause all-day or business-scale texting.

Fair start, so "cancel anytime" stays honest

  • Your membership includes a remote session and an in-person visit, which together are worth more than a few months of dues.
  • You can cancel anytime. You just will not pay less than the regular price of the visits you actually use. If you use an included visit and cancel early, we bill the difference between its regular price and the dues you have paid.
  • Once your dues add up to more than the visits you have used, there is no adjustment, ever. If you never used a visit, there is nothing to settle.
  • After a membership is canceled, a new one can start again after 12 months.

Billing

  • $19.99 per month, renews automatically until you cancel. In-person visits are within 75 miles of Lawton; the 25 to 75 mile zone adds $20 travel per visit.
  • Your included visits reset on your renewal date and do not roll over.

What's included

What do I get with Nerd on Call?

For $19.99 a month you get a remote help session and an in-person visit included every year, 20% off the labor on any extra visits, and a courtesy text line for quick questions. There is no contract, and you can cancel anytime.

How do the two included visits work?

You get one included remote session and one included in-person visit each membership year. They are counted separately, so using your remote session does not use up your in-person visit, or the other way around. Each included visit covers the standard first hour.

When do my included visits reset?

They refresh on your renewal date each year, the same date you signed up. Unused visits do not roll over and have no cash value, so it is best to use them within the year.

Visits and pricing

What does an extra visit cost as a member?

You get 20% off the labor. That puts an extra remote session at $64 (normally $80), an extra in-person visit at $88 within 25 miles (normally $110), and $108 in the 25 to 75 mile range (normally $130). Travel charges are not discounted.

Is there a travel charge?

Within 25 miles of your regional anchor city there is no travel charge. The 25 to 75 mile range adds $20 per in-person visit, including your included visit. We do not make in-person visits past 75 miles, but remote help works anywhere.

How does remote help work?

By phone, FaceTime, or WhatsApp, whichever is easiest for you. You choose how we connect when you book, and we can share your screen when that helps.

Where do in-person visits happen?

At the service address on your membership, and only that address. If you move or need to change it, call or text us and we will update it. It cannot be changed at the time of booking.

What is the text-a-nerd line, exactly?

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Yes. Nerd on Call comes with a 30-Day Happiness Guarantee: if it's not for you, cancel within 30 days of joining and we'll refund your first month, as long as you haven't used an included remote session or in-person visit. It applies once per household, to your first month of dues. There's no contract, so you can cancel anytime after that too.

How am I billed?

$19.99 a month through Stripe, charged to the card on file, renewing automatically until you cancel. We never see or store your full card number. Monthly charges are not pro-rated or refunded, apart from our 30-Day Happiness Guarantee on your first month (see above).

Can I really cancel anytime?

Yes. You can cancel from your account or by contacting us. Cancelling stops future monthly charges, and your benefits run through the period you have already paid for.

What is the early-cancellation adjustment?

It keeps things fair: you never pay less than the regular price of the visits you actually used. If you use an included visit and cancel before your dues have covered it, we bill the difference, capped at that visit's regular price ($80 remote, $110 or $130 in person). Once your dues add up to more than the visits you used, there is no adjustment, ever. If you never used an included visit, there is nothing to settle.

If I cancel, can I join again later?

Yes. A new membership can start again 12 months after you cancel. We can waive that in some cases, so just ask.

Using your membership

Do you repair broken devices?

No. OkieNerd is setup and support, not a repair shop. We make working devices work right, set up new ones, and teach you how to use them. For broken screens, dead hardware, or failed drives, we will point you to a good repair shop.

How do I sign in, and what if I forget my PIN?

You sign in with your phone number and a PIN you choose. If you forget it, call or text us at 580.400.7475 and we will verify you and reset it.
