A Local Nerd who lives nearby comes to your senior center, library, church or community room and teaches a class in plain English. It costs the host nothing and it costs the folks who come nothing. If your program could use one, this page is how to ask.

About an hour, in a room of any size. The Local Nerd who teaches it lives in the area, was interviewed and background-checked before their first job, and does this kind of help in people's homes every week. Folks bring their own phone, tablet or laptop if they have one, and the questions are as much the class as the outline is.
Nobody is rushed and nobody is talked down to. The Local Nerd stays after for anyone who wants a minute one-on-one, and everyone leaves with a printed handout of what was covered and a little OkieNerd swag to take home.
One email. A Local Nerd who already lives in town writes to a place people already trust, offers a few classes, and whoever runs the programs picks the one their folks need most.

Any place with a room, a date and a way to tell people. Senior centers, public libraries, community centers, churches, civic clubs, county health and wellness centers, tribal elder programs, and senior-living, assisted-living and nursing communities.
For a senior-living community we work with the activities director on the date and the room. Residents bring their own devices, and family members are welcome to sit in.
Nothing. The class is free to the host and free to everyone who comes. OkieNerd covers the Local Nerd's time and prints the handouts. There is no fee for the room, no minimum head count, and nothing to sign.
Nobody is sold anything in the room. The handout says how to reach us, and that is the extent of it. Anyone who later wants help at home books a visit the ordinary way, at the ordinary price, and is under no obligation to.
Already know a Local Nerd? Ask them directly. Any Local Nerd can set up a class in their own town.
Most of the people we help are over 55, and a class is the easiest way to help a whole room at once. It is also how a town gets to know the Local Nerd who lives there. Some of the folks in the room will call us someday. Most will not, and that is fine.
